Elden Ring: Nightreign will omit the in-game messaging feature previously seen in other FromSoftware titles. Project director Junya Ishizaki explained this decision in a recent interview, citing the game's shorter play sessions. With each Nightreign session lasting approximately forty minutes, there's insufficient time for players to effectively leave or read messages.
"Given the roughly forty-minute session length, there's simply not enough time to send or read messages, so we removed the feature," Ishizaki stated.
This choice is noteworthy given the strong tradition of message-based interaction in FromSoftware games, a feature often praised for enhancing player engagement and community interaction. However, the development team deemed the feature unsuitable for Nightreign's design.
To maintain the integrity of the original Elden Ring, Nightreign features a separate storyline. Players can expect a fresh adventure filled with unique challenges and encounters, all while retaining the signature atmosphere and complex world design of Elden Ring.
