Players gain extensive control, adjusting enemy difficulty, damage output, projectile speed, and even core gameplay elements such as tempo, aggression, and parry timing.

Stratton confirmed that both DOOM: The Dark Ages and DOOM: Eternal's narratives are independently understandable. No prior experience with DOOM: The Dark Ages is required to enjoy the story.
