Tarneeb is a card game played by two teams, each consisting of two players sitting opposite each other. The game uses a standard 52-card deck, and play proceeds counter-clockwise. The objective is for each player to estimate the number of "Allmat" (points) their team can obtain in each round.
The player who wins the bid to declare "Tarneeb" throws a type of paper onto the floor. Other players must then throw papers of the same type. The first player to successfully match the "Tarneeb" paper wins the round. "Tarneeb" papers are considered superior to other paper types; however, a stronger "Tarneeb" paper can beat a weaker one. The round ends when all players have played.
Points are tallied at the end of each round. A team only scores points if they successfully meet or exceed their bid for the number of "Allmat" points. If successful, they add their earned "Allmat" to their score. If they fail, their bid is subtracted from their score, and the opposing team adds their earned "Allmat" to their score.
If a team achieves 13 "Allmat" without bidding for 13, they receive 16 bonus points. If they bid for and achieve 13 "Allmat", they receive 26 bonus points. Conversely, if a team bids for 13 "Allmat" and fails to achieve them, 16 points are deducted from their total score.
The game concludes when one team reaches a total score of 41 or more points. That team is declared the winner.
