Silent Hill f — the newest mainline (or standalone) entry in Konami’s legendary horror franchise — has moved more than 1 million copies across digital and physical channels within its first 24 hours.
Konami announced this milestone via an official press release and on the Japanese Silent Hill X Twitter account, thanking "everyone who played" for pushing shipped units past the 1 million mark just one day after the September 25 launch.
"This success highlights the franchise’s enduring legacy as a cornerstone of horror that continues to captivate fans seeking deep psychological terror," Konami stated. "Silent Hill f immerses players in a chilling tale crafted by Ryukishi07, bringing his 'beautiful yet terrifying' artistic vision to life."
This is excellent news for horror enthusiasts, confirming that Konami's recent triumphs extend beyond Silent Hill 2 Remake. That title also hit the 1 million sales mark rapidly but required until January to cross the 2 million threshold.
Set in 1960s Japan, Silent Hill f follows Hinako Shimizu, a young woman grappling with societal and familial expectations. IGN awarded the game a 7/10 in its review, noting: "Silent Hill f offers an intriguing new setting and a captivatingly dark narrative, though its melee-heavy combat system sometimes misses the mark."
The modding community has already begun enhancing the experience. While some mods optimize engine performance, introduce ray tracing, improve localization, or remove HUD elements, others add cheat codes, give Hinako a Shibito-style appearance, or eliminate the game's signature fog.
For newcomers: Silent Hill f is not a direct sequel to any previous titles in the series, making it accessible even if you haven't played earlier entries. It features a self-contained story "independent from the main timeline." Regarding its classification as a soulslike, fans have debated this topic for weeks now. However, Konami recently clarified during an interview with IGN that it is not a soulslike, expressing some fatigue over the ongoing discussion and highlighting their stance on the matter.
