Wuchang: Fallen Feathers Dev Apologizes for Performance Issues

Author : Caleb Dec 20,2025

Earlier today, we reported that Wuchang: Fallen Feathers reached over 114,000 concurrent players on Steam, marking one of the largest launches for a non-FromSoftware Soulslike title to date.

This achievement comes despite the game receiving 'mostly negative' reviews on Steam, with players citing issues like "extremely poor performance," a "completely lifeless" protagonist, and "clunky" combat and gameplay. At the time of writing, only 22% of the more than 9,300 reviews are positive.

Developer Leenzee has now released an update addressing these problems, acknowledging that "these issues should never have occurred" and adding, "we deeply regret the inconvenience and negative experiences some players are currently facing."

"We are confident in the game's performance within our recommended specifications, but we are actively working on optimization," the development team stated. "We aim to release a patch as soon as possible." Players experiencing ongoing issues are encouraged to submit a ticket to publisher 505 Games or adjust their settings.

That's not the only problem the developer is tackling.

"We are aware of pricing irregularities in some regions and are working with Steam to correct them," the team said, also addressing a pre-order reward error.

"The issue stems from a bug in the reward distribution for Standard and Deluxe editions, which prevented players from receiving the correct items. We are resolving this in the upcoming patch," Leenzee explained. "As a gesture of appreciation, we will provide all players who purchased the game on Steam with a free digital copy of the original soundtrack. We will also process refunds for those who have already bought the soundtrack via Steam."

Additionally, all future buyers of the Deluxe Edition will receive "a brand-new exclusive costume," though the team asks for patience, noting that "this may take some time."

"We are fully committed to investigating and resolving these issues as quickly as possible. Our team is prioritizing these matters at the highest level, working diligently to address everything promptly and ensure the best possible gaming experience," the statement concluded.

Wuchang: Fallen Feathers is a Soulslike action RPG set in the land of Shu during the chaotic late Ming Dynasty. You assume the role of a mysterious warrior afflicted by a terrifying feather disease, uncovering hidden secrets and confronting supernatural foes in an ancient empire on the brink of collapse. We rated it 'Great,' giving it an 8/10, and noted: "Wuchang: Fallen Feathers is another excellent addition to the growing Soulslike genre, featuring superb combat, impressive level design, an expansive skill tree, and formidable bosses. However, be prepared for occasional difficulty fluctuations and a reliance on somewhat cheap-feeling ambushes."

Wuchang: Fallen Feathers launched earlier today, July 24, 2025, for PS5, Xbox Series X and S, and PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store. Microsoft also added it to Game Pass on day one for subscribers to the Ultimate tier.
