At Brighton's Develop Conference, MachineGames' Design Director Jens Andersson and Audio Director Pete Ward shared insights with attendees on the Swedish studio's approach to crafting Indiana Jones and the Great Circle—the widely praised revival of the adventurous archaeologist in video games.

Their presentation shed light on the pressures of the game's development, how elements coalesced quite late in the process (as is typical in game development), and the audio challenges that introduced unexpected complications. However, what truly stood out was the immense dedication the team invested in authentically recreating the Indiana Jones universe. They meticulously attended to every detail, from the iconic crack of the whip to the authentic appearance of 1930s market stalls, all to craft the perfect atmosphere for the game.

This attention to detail paid off, earning widespread acclaim from both critics and players. IGN's review of Indiana Jones and the Great Circle awarded it a 9/10, stating: "An irresistible and immersive global treasure hunt, and by far the finest Indy story this century, Indiana Jones and the Great Circle doesn't belong in a museum—it belongs on your hard drive, ready for you to enjoy thoroughly."

With DLC on the horizon and speculation growing about a potential sequel hinted at by the game's ending, the future looks promising. With this in mind, IGN caught up with Andersson and Ward at Develop to delve deeper into their talk, explore the significant changes implemented in the final year of development, and pose a few playful questions about what lies ahead.
