Monster Hunter Wilds: How Long to Beat? IGN Staff Share Playtimes
Monster Hunter Wilds has finally arrived on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. Capcom's latest beast-battling adventure builds upon the success of Monster Hunter World and Iceborne, but how long will it take to complete? IGN staff share their experiences, detailing main story completion times, post-game activities, and overall playtime.
Tom Marks – Executive Reviews Editor, Games
Tom completed the main story in just under 15 hours. This marks the end of Low Rank, with High Rank offering substantial additional content. He spent another 15 hours completing High Rank quests, unlocking systems, and reaching the endgame. An additional five hours were dedicated to optimizing his weapon and armor sets, though he acknowledges much more remains to be explored.
Casey DeFreitas – Deputy Editor, Guides
Casey finished the final High Rank story mission at approximately 40 hours, 22 hours after completing Low Rank. This time includes significant menu navigation for guide creation. She prioritized story progression, occasionally deviating to hunt optional monsters and collaborate with friends. Casey estimates her playtime would have reached closer to 60 hours with a more thorough approach to crafting and optimization. She still has numerous side quests, endemic life collection, and further crafting goals to pursue.
Simon Cardy – Senior Editorial Producer
Simon finished the main story in just under 16 hours, finding the battles surprisingly straightforward. He attributes this to the game's streamlined mechanics designed for newcomers. The consistent story cutscene/monster battle pacing, while appreciated for its swift conclusion, left him wondering if core Monster Hunter elements were minimized until the post-game.
Jada Griffin – Community Lead
Jada reached the initial credits in approximately 20 hours, including considerable time spent exploring, collecting endemic life, and customizing settings. She completed all High Rank missions and side quests in another 15 hours. Her total playtime currently exceeds 70 hours, encompassing post-game activities like collaborative hunts, decoration farming, and monster crown hunting.
Ronny Barrier – Producer, Guides
Ronny saw the first credits after roughly 20 hours, prioritizing the story with occasional armor crafting and weapon diversification. His current playtime sits at 65 hours, highlighting the extensive post-game content. He considers the initial credits more of a story midpoint than a true ending.
