The Final Update for Assassin's Creed Shadows in 2025 Arrives Tomorrow, With New Finishers, Another Animus Quest, and More

Author : Charlotte Sep 27,2026

Ubisoft is set to release the final Assassin's Creed Shadows update of the year this week, just before the game launches on the Nintendo Switch 2.

Title Update 1.1.7 introduces a series of visually striking new finishers to enhance combat for both Naoe and Yasuke, adding some intense new moves to the mix.

For those following Shadows' characteristically unusual Animus content, this week features a new Rift for exploration as the enigmatic Guide calls upon players once more. Additionally, there is a new battle pass-style Project to complete, rewarding players with a new bo staff and an outfit for Naoe (though unfortunately, no new cat or Ezio costumes are included this time).

A notable quality-of-life improvement allows players to access their Vault content—featuring modern-day story text logs—without having to fully exit the game and navigate to the Animus desktop, which was previously cumbersome. Players can also now exchange Animus keys for additional Gold, Mastery, and Knowledge Points, ensuring they have enough of these resources when needed.

These enhancements are accompanied by a comprehensive list of bug fixes and other adjustments, including launch-day optimizations for the Assassin's Creed Shadows Nintendo Switch 2 edition, which arrives on Wednesday, December 17.

Below is the complete list of changes:

Assassin's Creed Shadows Title Update 1.1.7 — Bug fixes & Improvements patch notes:

Nintendo Switch 2

Enhanced performance across various FPS scenarios. Addressed crashes to improve overall stability. Resolved multiple visual glitches. Optimized the touchscreen experience. Fixed a bug where players were prompted to connect a controller upon docking or undocking the Switch 2, even if controllers were already paired. Resolved an issue causing an infinite black screen after creating a Ubisoft Connect account or logging in with an existing account when selecting an audio pack from the initial boot menu.

Gameplay

Eliminated an exploit that allowed double engravings on the Sword of Fathoms. Fixed a bug preventing Naginatas from being sold. Fine, I shall sell my best wares somewhere else! Resolved an issue where perks checking Mastery points spent failed to update if Mastery points changed after equipping the item. Fixed a bug where upgrading skills to Rank 3 sometimes caused damage upgrades from Rank 2 to be missing. The Bo Staff now increases its affliction buildup stat when upgraded to Mythic and Artifact quality. Perks with affliction effects now feature dynamic wording specifying which affliction they apply, based on the item they are engraved on. Fixed a bug where Knowledge Scrolls were incorrectly removed from the player's inventory. Junjiro did you take my scrolls again?? Shared skills between Naoe and Yasuke will now correctly be learned by both characters. Edited the wording for the "Affliction After Deflect" perk to clarify that it applies 35% buildup instead of a full Affliction. Ensured that "Restore 6% Health With Posture Attack" is present for all Critical Damage and Health Gain engravings on all weapons when equipped.

Claws of Awaji

Fixed a bug where players owning two copies of the game—one with the Claws of Awaji Expansion and one without—would permanently lose the ability to fast travel to Awaji Island when switching between the two game editions.

World

Players can now whistle while using the Follow Road mechanic. Enjoy the open road, whistle a tune and relax! Corrupted Castles will no longer reset when loading into a previous save after a season has already changed. Fixed a bug where enemies and loot would respawn upon loading a save before changing seasons.

Visuals & Graphics

Adjusted facial animations for Naoe or Yasuke that appeared unnatural during all cinematics when a hood was equipped. Psst! Naoe, stop making silly faces, please!

UI

Corrected inconsistencies between the smuggled rewards displayed in the UI at the end of a season and what was actually received. All the goods are there, boss! Fixed UI inconsistencies regarding smuggled rewards when the Stables are upgraded. Remember to give your trusty steed an apple as a treat. Corrected the location name for "Kawarajiri Lumber Camp" in Japanese.

Online Store

Fixed an issue preventing Store, Deluxe, and Premium items from being correctly added to the player's inventory.
