Rebel Wolves, a studio comprised of former CD Projekt Red developers, is developing The Blood of Dawnwalker, an open-world vampire RPG aiming for a quality level comparable to The Witcher 3, albeit with a more focused scope. This article delves into the game's development and the director's vision.
A 30-40 Hour Narrative Experience
In an interview with GamesRadar, Creative Director Mateusz Tomaszkiewicz clarified the studio's AAA aspirations. While acknowledging the smaller scale of their debut project compared to established AAA titles, he emphasized their commitment to high-quality development, drawing a parallel to the standards set by The Witcher 3.
The team at Rebel Wolves, possessing extensive experience from their work on The Witcher 3 and Cyberpunk 2077, formed the studio to pursue greater creative freedom. Tomaszkiewicz highlighted the game's anticipated 30-40 hour main campaign, a length he argues doesn't automatically disqualify it from AAA status, citing examples of shorter AAA titles.
The Blood of Dawnwalker is a narrative-driven, open-world dark fantasy RPG set in the fictional land of Vale Sangora. Players assume the role of Coen, a young peasant imbued with vampiric powers, embarking on a quest to save his sister while navigating the dangers of this mystical realm.
Currently, there's no confirmed release date, but the game is planned for release on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. A gameplay reveal is expected sometime in Summer 2025.
