Capcom Launches First-Ever Game Development Competition
Capcom is fostering industry growth through its inaugural Capcom Games Competition, a student-focused game development tournament designed to bridge the gap between academia and industry. This initiative aims to cultivate future talent and advance game development research.
A Collaborative Approach to Game Development
The competition, open to Japanese university, graduate, and vocational school students (18+), challenges teams of up to 20 students to create a game using Capcom's proprietary RE ENGINE within a six-month timeframe. Capcom developers will provide mentorship and guidance, offering participants invaluable experience in cutting-edge game development techniques. Winning teams will receive support for potential game commercialization.
Competition Details:
- Application Period: December 9, 2024 - January 17, 2025 (unless otherwise stated)
- Eligibility: Japanese students (18+) enrolled in a university, graduate school, or vocational school.
- RE ENGINE: Capcom's powerful game engine, initially developed for Resident Evil 7: Biohazard and used in various subsequent titles including Dragon's Dogma 2, Kunitsu-Gami: Path of the Goddess, and the upcoming Monster Hunter Wilds.
