Blizzard Fails to Extend Diablo 3 Event

Diablo 3's beloved "Fall of Tristram" event is set to conclude on February 1, yet many fans are expressing a desire for it to remain a permanent fixture in the game. However, community manager pezradar has dashed these hopes, stating that the event's hard-coded nature makes it impossible to extend through server-side adjustments. "I asked about Tristram and the possibility of extending it, but unfortunately [the event] is hard-coded and it's impossible to make server-side fixes," pezradar explained.

In addition to the Tristram event, pezradar addressed the delay of Diablo 3's Season 34 of Call of Light, which has disrupted the weekend plans of some players. "I'm sorry. It's not what I was hoping for. We were notified about 24 hours before we had to adjust the time," pezradar said. The delay stems from the need to develop new code to ensure a seamless transition between seasons, following issues with the automatic scheduler that prematurely ended the previous season in early January. "The extra time allows us to implement and test the new code, and ensure that players' progress is transferred smoothly from their accounts," pezradar added, acknowledging the need for improved communication with players in the future.

In other gaming news, Wolcen Studio has announced Project Pantheon, a free-to-play combat role-playing game that incorporates elements of extraction shooter mechanics. The first closed alpha testing for this innovative title will commence on January 25 for players in Europe, with North American players joining on February 1. "We've blended the tension and risk reward of an extraction shooter with the battle dynamics of combat role-playing games," said game director Andrei Cirkulete, highlighting the game's unique blend of genres. Inspired by games like Diablo and Escape from Tarkov, Project Pantheon invites players to step into the shoes of a messenger of Death, tasked with restoring order to a shattered world. The studio is keen to gather feedback from the community during this testing phase.
