Aurora Notifier is a mobile application leveraging Firebase Cloud Messaging to deliver timely notifications about potential Northern Lights sightings. Users can customize alerts based on local aurora probability, Kp-index (Hp30), solar wind parameters (Bz/Bt), and evening Kp-level forecasts. The app also features a unique community aspect: users are alerted when nearby app users report witnessing the aurora. This crowdsourced data relies on users uploading their own aurora sightings, contributing to the overall accuracy and timeliness of alerts. A premium version, available as an in-app purchase, unlocks enhanced technical information, including graphs of Kp-index predictions, cloud cover, solar wind parameters, and additional features.
