Application Description

This portable media player doubles as a UPnP DLNA DMR, supporting a wide array of subtitle formats and advanced playback features.

The player offers UPnP DLNA functionality, acting as a digital media renderer (DMR). It accesses files via the user-controlled Storage Access Framework (SAF).

Comprehensive SSA/ASS subtitle support is included, allowing users to add and manage their own fonts. For optimal viewing with HDR and DV content, subtitle dimming is available, along with adjustable font sizes. SUP (Blu-ray) and VobSub (DVD) subtitles are also supported (version 5.1 and later). Subtitles can be embedded in MKV files or loaded separately. Single subtitle files or zipped packages (Zip/7Z/RAR) are accepted.

This player boasts HDR/DV compatibility, digital audio passthrough, MKV chapter navigation, frame-by-frame playback, audio track selection and delay adjustment, subtitle selection and timing adjustments, frame rate display, and automatic refresh rate adjustment. Pinch-to-zoom and video rotation are also supported. Dolby Vision playback has been successfully tested on the Nvidia Shield TV 2019.

Initially designed for segmented file playback using m3u8 (HLS) playlists (originally TS-only), it now supports mp4 and flv files.

Version 4.3.1 (February 26, 2023) Updates

  • Important Note: On some Android systems, this app must run in the foreground before initiating DLNA projection.

  • Bug fixes: improved subtitle auto-selection, addressed a first chapter 0:00 issue, and enhanced system compatibility.

  • New features: Default subtitle language is now settable within the subtitle selection menu. Subtitle file selection is now possible directly from the Storage Access Framework content page, supporting local storage, Samba/Windows shares, and WebDAV clients via compatible SAF provider apps. A DMR service crash bug has been addressed.
