Pokémon Company Tackles TCG Shortages, Scalpers Post-Destined Rivals Launch

Author : Caleb May 07,2025

The Pokémon Company has taken note of the frustrations fans have faced in securing the latest Pokémon Trading Card Game (TCG) sets. In a recent announcement, they've promised reprints and assured fans that they're diligently working to ensure these products reach their hands.

The launch of the "Destined Rivals" set has been marred by numerous challenges, including product shortages, issues with pre-orders, and scalping activities. This set, along with others like "Prismatic Evolutions" and the "Blooming Waters" box, have been extremely popular and, consequently, hard to come by.

In their statement on the official Pokémon website, The Pokémon Company acknowledged that some fans are struggling to purchase certain TCG products due to overwhelming demand and limited availability.

"We understand the frustration and disappointment this causes for our fans," the statement read. "We are actively ramping up production to the fullest capacity to address these issues. Expect reprints to be available at participating retailers soon."

The company also committed to enhancing production for upcoming TCG expansions to ensure better availability at launch and to continue reprinting affected products to restock the Pokémon Center.

Addressing the issue of scalping indirectly, The Pokémon Company emphasized their commitment to a seamless purchasing experience on the Pokémon Center. They employ technology, including a virtual queue system during high traffic periods, to prioritize fans' access to products.

"We are continuously exploring new ways to enhance the shopping experience for our Pokémon Center customers," they stated. "We appreciate the community's ongoing support and patience as we strive to bring more Pokémon TCG products to fans."

With these assurances, fans can hopefully look forward to a smoother and less stressful experience when trying to collect and enjoy new Pokémon TCG sets.
