When Monster Hunter Wilds launched, it quickly became one of the most anticipated and best-selling titles of the year—earning the title of Capcom’s fastest-selling game. However, just three months after release, the game is experiencing a significant drop in concurrent players, signaling a slowdown in player engagement.

As highlighted by Monster Hunter content creator Zenny, the game’s active player count began halving in May, now drawing close to the numbers seen in the older entry, Monster Hunter: World. According to SteamDB, MH Wilds recorded a 24-hour peak of 41,101 players, while MH World sits at 26,479 concurrent players at the time of writing.

For context, MH World maintained over 100,000 concurrent players during its third month on Steam—more than double what MH Wilds is seeing now. The decline is largely attributed to a lack of substantial endgame content, even after the release of Title Update 1. With Title Update 2 scheduled for Summer, players are hopeful for new monsters, seasonal events, and expanded gameplay features that could breathe new life into the ecosystem.

MH Wilds x Street Fighter Collaboration Teased

A potential boost to the player base may come in the form of a crossover with another iconic Capcom franchise—Street Fighter. On May 19, the official Monster Hunter Twitter (X) account posted an image featuring a paw mark rendered in the distinctive urban art style of Street Fighter 6, sparking widespread speculation.

While Capcom has not officially confirmed the collaboration, a crossover wouldn’t be unprecedented. Monster Hunter: World previously featured a popular Street Fighter tie-in, offering Ryu and Sakura-themed armor sets, special gestures like Hadoken and Shoryuken, and even a Chun-Li-inspired outfit for the Handler.

If confirmed, this would mark the first collaboration for Monster Hunter Wilds and could reignite community excitement. The Monster Hunter series has a rich history of cross-promotions, including collaborations with Devil May Cry and Sonic in MH4, Animal Crossing and Fire Emblem in MH Generations Ultimate, and Assassin’s Creed and Mega Man in MH World.

With major updates and potential crossovers on the horizon, there’s still strong optimism that Monster Hunter Wilds can regain momentum. The game is currently available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. Stay tuned for more updates—[ttpp] will keep you informed on all things Monster Hunter Wilds.
