Freedom Wars Remastered: A Deep Dive into Weapon Types
Freedom Wars Remastered allows players to equip two weapons of their choice for each Operation, offering diverse strategic options. With six distinct weapon types available – three melee and three ranged – and extensive customization, players can tailor their combat style to their preferences. Let's explore each weapon type's unique characteristics:
Weapon Types in Freedom Wars Remastered
New weapons are acquired through completing operations or purchasing them from Zakka in The Warren. While Comrades' weapons are predetermined, players can freely equip and switch their own weapons and Accessory weapons at any time without penalty.
Weapon Type | Traits |
---|---|
Light Melee | Fast attacks, ideal for quick, single-target engagements. Can sever Abductor limbs without a Flare Knife. |
Heavy Melee | Wide-sweeping attacks, high damage output. Well-placed attacks can hit multiple Abductor limbs for amplified damage. Charged attacks launch the player into the air. Slightly reduces movement speed. |
Polearm | Attacks involve charging through enemies, useful for maintaining distance. Charged attacks launch the polearm for significant damage from a safe distance. |
Assault Weapons | High ammo capacity, perfect for gun-focused builds. Can be fired while grappled with the Thorne for strategic advantage. |
Portable Artillery | High single-shot damage, low ammo capacity. Explosive area-of-effect shots can hit multiple limbs for increased damage. Reduces movement speed. |
Autocannons | High rate of fire, large ammo capacity and magazine size. Individual shots have lower damage, but the high rate of fire compensates. Reduces movement speed. |
Unlike the player character, Accessories don't have ammo limitations when using ranged weapons. This strategic element adds another layer of depth to combat planning.
