Halo Infinite, while perhaps less prominent than some contemporaries, continues to receive regular content updates. A noteworthy addition is the upcoming competitive mode, S&D Extraction, designed to provide a strategic and engaging gameplay experience.
Inspired by Counter-Strike's core mechanics, S&D Extraction puts a unique spin on the classic bomb defusal formula. Two teams of four players face off; one team attacks, aiming to plant a device at a specific location, while the other defends. Teams alternate roles after each round, with the first to win six rounds claiming victory.
A key element is the robust economic system. Players earn in-game currency by completing objectives, which they then use to purchase equipment at the beginning of each round. Pricing dynamically adjusts based on player performance, ensuring a constantly shifting meta. All purchased gear is lost at the round's conclusion.
Item costs reflect their in-round effectiveness and power; stronger items command higher prices. Expect cheaper options early in the match, escalating costs mid-game, and potentially even more expensive gear available later if players strategically manage their funds. Furthermore, players will have the option to pay for respawns after elimination.
S&D Extraction is slated for release in Halo Infinite during 2025, promising a thrilling and competitive addition to the game's repertoire.
