Enjoy scanwords and crosswords from the author

Our second Sloword app is now available. Access it directly from the main screen when loading a scanword (just tap the image) or in Settings under Other Applications. Try this modern crossword alternative for a fresh challenge.

Russian scanwords are truly a unique global phenomenon. No other language features so many literary questions, witty humor, and topics reflecting current world events—all found in ordinary crosswords. The Russian people cherish words: they honor them, preserve them, and treat language as something precious.

Our app offers diverse scanwords—ranging from simple to complex, with photos, classic clues, or associative hints like "one word" or "two words," inspired by Elder Fur’s style. Each issue includes an English-Russian scanword and a "holey" puzzle—you’ll quickly see why it’s named that. Every page introduces a character from our cheerful family. Join us today!

All scanwords are free for readers. This annual collection includes 52–53 issues, each with 20 scanwords. A full year’s worth takes about 50 MB on your phone—images are small, and text is lightweight. We respect your storage space.

No internet is needed to solve puzzles once the scanwords are downloaded. New issues release every Friday. With notifications enabled, you’ll get a weekly reminder at 12:00 local time. The app automatically downloads new issues once and won’t repeat successful downloads. You can also manually download or delete any magazine individually or use Settings to download all at once.

Core features, including access to all scanwords, are free. Advertising supports the app, with one narrow banner per page and one interstitial ad before opening a scanword—never interrupting your solving flow. Watch advertiser videos to earn free hints.

Readers can optionally disable ads by: a) turning off ads permanently, b) subscribing to remove ads and get unlimited hints, or c) purchasing hint packs. All options are available in the Shop.
