A young Black woman in Detroit journeys through time to revisit pivotal moments in her family's past, experiencing firsthand the impact of race, location, and the significance of home. This is the core narrative of DOT'S HOME, a captivating single-player, 2D, narrative-driven video game.
Players are immersed in an interactive experience that reveals the detrimental effects of systemic forces shaping our understanding of race and place, viewed from the perspective of those most affected. Through choices impacting where and how characters live amidst redlining, urban renewal, and gentrification, DOT'S HOME prompts reflection on a crucial question: "How did your family arrive at their current situation, and how much agency did they truly possess in that journey?"
DOT'S HOME is a project of Rise-Home Stories, a three-year creative partnership between multimedia artists and housing justice activists. Their goal is to reshape community narratives by reimagining the past, present, and future through transformative storytelling.
