Battle of Sudoku: A Multiplayer Sudoku Showdown

Love Sudoku and crave a competitive edge? Battle of Sudoku pits you against other players or teams in a thrilling multiplayer experience. The core objective remains the same: fill a 9x9 grid with digits such that each column, row, and 3x3 subgrid contains all digits from 1 to 9.

Before diving in, customize the difficulty (1-6, 1 being easiest, 6 hardest) in the game options. This sets the initial numbers, providing a shared starting point for all players. Each player receives the identical puzzle.

Game Modes:

The game offers two modes, configurable via "Show the correct numbers of your opponent" in the options:

• Visible Correct Numbers: Every correctly placed number is visible to all players. Correct answers earn points, but you can't claim points for a number already placed by another player. Speed and accuracy are key!
• Hidden Correct Numbers: Players cannot see each other's correct numbers. This allows multiple players to earn points for the same correct number.

Time-Outs and Scoring:

Incorrect entries result in a time-out (adjustable in game options, default 30 seconds), preventing further actions while others continue. Correct answers earn points based on the puzzle's difficulty level; higher levels yield more points per correct number. Incorrect answers deduct half the points you'd gain for a correct answer.

Winning the Game:

The game concludes when the puzzle is completely and correctly solved. The player with the highest point total wins. If "Show the correct numbers of your opponent" is disabled, the game ends when one player solves it, though this doesn't grant extra points; others can still win by making fewer mistakes.

Team Play vs. Individual Play:

Team play allows two teams to compete. Upon joining, select your team (1 or 2). A minimum of two players per team is required. Team points accumulate collectively, and notes/filled colors are shared among teammates, enabling collaborative strategies.

Solving Tools:

A toolbar beneath the puzzle provides helpful tools:

• Pen Tool: Add notes (mini-numbers) to squares as potential candidates. Selecting a number already present removes it.
• Fill Mode: Change the background color of squares (including solved ones).
