Many of these changes are now in effect, perfectly timed for the first batch of new games.
On January 7, 2025, Microsoft announced seven new games coming to Xbox Game Pass via the official Xbox blog. One of these, the choice-driven 2021 game Road 96, is immediately available across all Game Pass tiers, including PC Game Pass. Although Road 96 was previously on the platform, it left Xbox Game Pass in June 2023 before its announced return in December 2024. The remaining six games in the January lineup will be released later in the month, with most arriving on January 8 and two on January 14.

Earlier leaks about Diablo and UFC 5 joining Xbox Game Pass have been confirmed, with official release dates now set. However, not all subscribers will have access to these titles. Diablo is exclusive to Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass users, while UFC 5 is available only to Ultimate subscribers. The rest of the lineup, including the sci-fi Lightyear Frontier in early access, is accessible with a Standard subscription.
As of January 7, new Game Pass Ultimate perks are also available, including a weapon charm for Apex Legends and DLC packs for First Descendant, Vigor, and Metaball. Alongside new additions, some games are set to leave the platform. The Xbox app previously hinted at the six titles departing on January 15, and Microsoft has now officially confirmed them:
