According to a recent Bloomberg report, Warner Bros. has canceled an unannounced paid DLC for Hogwarts Legacy. The planned story expansion was set to launch this year alongside a "Definitive Edition" of the game. However, the decision to cancel came this week, with Bloomberg citing sources that claim the content volume was deemed insufficient to justify the proposed price.
Warner Bros. did not respond to Bloomberg's request for comment on the matter. This cancellation comes amidst a broader restructuring of Warner Bros.' gaming division, which has been grappling with financial difficulties. Earlier this year, the company canceled its planned Wonder Woman game, shut down Monolith Productions, WB San Diego, and the studio behind MultiVersus, Player First Games. Additionally, Warner Bros. laid off employees at Rocksteady last September.
Despite these setbacks, Warner Bros. continues to emphasize the importance of Hogwarts Legacy and the Harry Potter franchise within its portfolio. The company has labeled a sequel to Hogwarts Legacy as "one of the biggest priorities," aiming to focus on fewer but larger franchises. The original game has been a commercial success, selling over 30 million copies.
