Veilguard Has No Denuvo DRM Because They

BioWare brings exciting news for fans of Dragon Age: The Veilguard: the game will not feature Denuvo DRM, a decision that's been met with widespread approval from the gaming community. However, there's a catch for PC players—no preload option will be available.

Veilguard Fans Celebrate No DRM Decision

But No Preload for PC Players

"Veilguard will not have Denuvo on PC. We trust you," announced Dragon Age: The Veilguard project director Michael Gamble on Twitter (X). Digital rights management (DRM) tools like Denuvo are commonly used by major publishers such as EA to combat piracy. However, they often cause performance issues for PC gamers, leading to widespread discontent. BioWare's decision to forego DRM has been met with enthusiasm from the community. One user expressed their support, saying, "I support this. I will buy your game upon launch. Thank you," in response to Gamble's announcement.

Additionally, Veilguard won't require players to be constantly online, further enhancing the gaming experience. However, the absence of DRM means PC players won't have the option to preload the game, which requires at least 100GB of storage space. This has disappointed some fans, but console players can still preload the game. Xbox players with early access can install it now, while PlayStation users will need to wait until October 29.

Alongside the DRM announcement, BioWare released the system requirements for Veilguard. "Players with high-end rigs will be able to take advantage of our suite of Ray Tracing features and uncapped frame rates. For the minimum PC specs, we focused on making the game as accessible to as many people as possible," BioWare stated. "For consoles (PlayStation 5 & Xbox Series X|S), there will be fidelity and performance modes, targeting 30 and 60 FPS respectively." To enable all Ray Tracing effects on PC, you'll need an Intel Core i9 9900K or AMD Ryzen 7 3700X with 16GB of RAM, along with an Nvidia RTX 3080 or AMD Radeon 6800XT graphics card.
