Valorant Making Anti-Cheat Changes Following Major Ban Wave

Valorant is intensifying its efforts to combat hackers with the introduction of ranked rollbacks, a new feature aimed at reversing any progress or rank lost due to matches affected by cheating. This move is part of Riot Games' broader strategy to enhance fair play and penalize those who exploit the system.

The gaming community is no stranger to the disruptive presence of cheaters, who seek unfair advantages and spoil the experience for others. Despite Valorant's reputation for having one of the best anti-cheat systems, a recent surge in hacking activities has prompted Riot Games to take even stronger action. Phillip Koskinas, Valorant's head of anti-cheat, has publicly addressed the issue on Twitter, emphasizing Riot's commitment to tackling the problem head-on. He highlighted that Riot can now "hit so much harder" against cheaters, detailing the upcoming changes.

As part of these changes, Riot Games will implement ranked rollbacks, ensuring that any rank or progress lost due to a match with a hacker is restored. Koskinas shared data showing the effectiveness of Riot's Vanguard system, which banned a significant number of cheaters in January, with a peak on January 13.

Riot Games' Future Valorant Bans Will Include Ranked Rollbacks

Addressing concerns about fairness, Koskinas clarified that players on the same team as a hacker will retain their rank rating, while the opposing team will have their rank restored. He acknowledged that this approach might lead to some inflation in rankings but expressed confidence in its overall effectiveness.

Valorant's Vanguard system, known for its kernel-level security clearance on PCs, has been a model for other games like Call of Duty, which have adopted similar anti-cheat measures. Despite these efforts, cheaters continue to find new ways to infiltrate games, necessitating ongoing vigilance and innovation from game developers.

With thousands of bans already issued, Riot Games demonstrates a strong commitment to eradicating cheating in Valorant. The success of the new ranked rollback system will be closely watched by the community, hopeful for a fairer and more enjoyable gaming experience.
