Legendary Pokémon Arrive in Pokémon GO
Black and White Kyurem's Grand Entrance
Following last December's announcement, Niantic has revealed the exciting addition of Black Kyurem, White Kyurem, and Shiny Meloetta to the Pokémon GO Tour: Unova in February 2025.
From February 21st to 23rd, 2025, attendees in New Taipei City, Taiwan, and Los Angeles, USA, can participate in special raids and the Kyurem fusion event. To obtain base Kyurem, trainers must conquer Black or White Kyurem in five-star raids.
Once you've caught Kyurem, you can fuse it with either Zekrom or Reshiram to create its powerful alternate forms. Fusion unlocks exclusive attacks: Freeze Shock (Black Kyurem) and Ice Burn (White Kyurem). Here's the fusion recipe:
- Black Kyurem: 1,000 Volt Fusion Energy, 30 Kyurem Candy, and 30 Zekrom Candy
- White Kyurem: 1,000 Blaze Fusion Energy, 30 Kyurem Candy, and 30 Reshiram Candy
Earn Fusion Energy by defeating Black or White Kyurem in raids. Reversion to the base Kyurem form is free. Plus, enjoy increased Shiny rates for Kyurem, Reshiram, and Zekrom during the event!
For those unable to attend the in-person events, the Pokémon GO Tour: Unova – Global event runs March 1st-2nd, 2025, and is free for all players!
Meloetta, the Melody Pokémon, Joins the Celebration
Making its Shiny debut in Pokémon GO is Meloetta! In-person event ticket holders can complete a Masterwork Research to encounter this enchanting Pokémon. Don't worry about time constraints; the Masterwork Research doesn't expire.

Iconic Legendaries from Pokémon Black and White 2
Kyurem, Reshiram, Zekrom, and Meloetta originally appeared in Pokémon Black and White, the fifth generation of Pokémon games featuring the Unova region. The Tao Trio are obtainable during the main story, while Meloetta is a post-game reward. Pokémon Black and White 2 introduced Kyurem's alternate forms, capable of learning Ice Burn and Freeze Shock, just like their Pokémon GO counterparts.
With the limited-time appearance of Kyurem's alternate forms in February (in-person) and March (global), Unova's legendary Pokémon are ready to take center stage in Pokémon GO!
