Akupara Games and Tmesis Studio's latest adventure game, Universe for Sale, is now available. Following successful releases like The Darkside Detective series and Zoeti earlier this year, Akupara Games continues to deliver intriguing titles.
Is the Universe Actually for Sale?
Set on a Jupiter space station, the game unfolds in a bizarre, atmospheric bazaar shrouded in acid rain and mystery. Orangutans with surprisingly sharp wit work the docks, and cultists barter flesh for enlightenment. The universe itself is for sale, thanks to Lila, a woman with the unusual ability to create universes from her very hand.
The game begins in the ramshackle mining colony shantytown. You play as the Master, a skeletal cultist from the Cult of Detachment – a character both unsettling and captivating. Exploring the colony's quirky tea shops and other strange establishments, you eventually encounter Honin's Tea House, Lila's shop. The mystery surrounding Lila slowly unfolds as you shift between her perspective and the Master's throughout the gameplay.
Playing as Lila involves a mini-game where you create universes by mixing and matching ingredients, resulting in stunning visual worlds. Meanwhile, the Master's journey delves into the philosophies of the Cult of Detachment and encounters with the Church of Many Gods.
The narrative unfolds gradually, prompting players to theorize about the overarching plot. Each character, human, skeletal, or robotic, possesses a unique story, and the richly detailed world encourages thorough exploration.
