Koei Tecmo's Q1 2024 financial report provided a comprehensive look at the future projects from their in-house developers and brands. Among the highlights is Omega Force's "Dynasty Warriors Origins," a fresh addition to the beloved Dynasty Warriors musou series. Set to launch in 2025 on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC (Steam), this marks the first full Dynasty Warriors title since 2018's Dynasty Warriors 9, which saw an expansion in 2022. The game centers around a "Nameless Hero" and unfolds during the Three Kingdoms period, a pivotal era in Chinese history from 220 to 280 AD, following the collapse of the Han dynasty.

The report, dated July 29, also announced two other eagerly awaited titles: "Romance of the Three Kingdoms 8 Remake," and "FAIRY TAIL 2." Additionally, Koei Tecmo is quietly working on several unannounced projects, including a highly anticipated AAA game.

"Romance of the Three Kingdoms 8 Remake" is scheduled for release in October 2024, celebrating the 20th anniversary of the original. It will be available worldwide on PS4, PS5, Switch, and PC. "FAIRY TAIL 2," a sequel to the 2020 RPG inspired by the popular manga series, is set to hit the shelves this winter on PS4, PS5, Switch, and PC.

In related news, Koei Tecmo's profits in the console video games sector for Q1 2024 were bolstered by continued sales of "Rise of the Ronin." The company is optimistic about this open-world action RPG, setting ambitious sales targets and viewing it as a crucial step toward establishing itself as a major triple-A developer.

Koei Tecmo Looks to Release AAA Titles on a Continuous Basis

Earlier in the year, Koei Tecmo outlined its ambition to become a prominent player in the triple-A gaming scene, announcing the launch of a new triple-A studio that has already started working on its first project. The recent financial report confirmed that Koei Tecmo is developing several unannounced titles, including at least one AAA game, though details remain under wraps.

AAA games, or triple-A games, are known for their high budgets and are typically developed and published by major studios. Koei Tecmo's goal is to join these ranks, focusing on extensive development, robust marketing, and large development teams.

"To expand the Company’s lineup of titles, AAA Studio was established. In order to achieve medium- to long-term growth, we will continue to build a system that enables us to release large-scale titles on a continuous basis," Koei Tecmo stated in their recent report.
