In a brand-new trailer unveiled today at Summer Game Fest, players got their first glimpse—and listen—of acclaimed voice actor Troy Baker in an unexpected and delightfully quirky role: Jack Pepper, a crime-solving mouse and the protagonist of MOUSE: P.I. for Hire.
Set in the stylized city of Mouseburg, the game casts Baker as Jack Pepper—a decorated war hero turned private investigator who navigates a world steeped in mystery, danger, and classic noir intrigue. The story kicks off with a familiar noir trope: a mysterious femme fatale arrives at Pepper’s office with a case that quickly spirals into a web of murder, corruption, and high-stakes deception. As the investigation deepens, players will uncover secrets lurking beneath the city’s charmingly retro surface.
MOUSE blends 3D platforming with first-person shooter mechanics, all wrapped in a visually stunning art style reminiscent of 1930s animated cartoons. Drawing clear inspiration from the aesthetic of Cuphead, the game delivers a unique fusion of vintage animation and modern gameplay, immersing players in a world that feels both nostalgic and fresh.
Troy Baker, renowned for his iconic performances in major titles such as Joel in The Last of Us, Booker DeWitt in BioShock Infinite, Sam Drake in Uncharted 4, Higgs Monaghan in Death Stranding, and Indiana Jones in Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, brings his signature depth and charisma to this unconventional detective role.
Developed by Fumi Games, MOUSE: P.I. for Hire is slated for release this year on Xbox, PlayStation, Nintendo Switch, and PC, promising a one-of-a-kind adventure that combines sharp storytelling, retro flair, and immersive action.
