This rumored collection, encompassing the next two mainline games, is slated to hit a wide array of platforms, including Nintendo Switch, PC, PlayStation 4 and 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S, according to the ratings board.
While no official word has come from Activision yet, a countdown timer spotted in Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 is stirring excitement. It's ticking down to March 4, 2025, hinting that some Tony Hawk's Pro Skater news might be on the horizon. Adding to the anticipation, Tony Hawk himself shared in an interview with Mythical Kitchen that he's been in discussions with Activision again, teasing that they're working on something special. "It will be something the fans will truly appreciate," Hawk promised.
The success of the Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 1+2 remake in 2020 set a high bar, making a follow-up with 3 and 4 seem like a natural next step. However, the landscape shifted when Activision merged the original remake's developer, Vicarious Visions, into Blizzard in 2021, redirecting their focus to Blizzard projects. Tony Hawk revealed that the plan was to proceed with 3+4 right up until the release of 1+2, but Vicarious Visions' absorption led Activision to explore other development options.
In a 2022 Twitch livestream, Hawk elaborated on the situation, stating, "The truth of it is that [Activision] were trying to find somebody to do 3 + 4 but they just didn’t really trust anyone the way they did Vicarious, so they took other pitches from other studios. Like, ‘What would you do with the THPS title?’ And they didn’t like anything they heard, and then that was it."
With the Singaporean ratings board listing Activision as both the publisher and developer, the big question remains: who is actually developing this anticipated remake?
