DC's Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow Commences Filming: First Look at Milly Alcock

Production has officially begun on DC's highly anticipated film, Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, starring Milly Alcock (House of the Dragon) as Kara Zor-El. DC Studios head James Gunn shared the news on Bluesky, along with a behind-the-scenes image of Alcock in her director's chair – offering a first glimpse of the actress in character.

Gunn expressed his excitement, highlighting director Craig Gillespie (Cruella, I, Tonya) and Alcock's talent. The film's adaptation is heavily influenced by Tom King, Bilquis Evely, and Ana Norgueira's graphic novel of the same name. This acclaimed comic, a nominee for the 2022 Eisner Award for "Best Limited Series," centers on Ruthye Marye Knoll, an alien girl seeking Supergirl's aid in avenging her father's murder at the hands of the villain Krem.

The cast includes Matthias Schoenaerts as Krem and Eve Ridley as Ruthye. Further casting announcements reveal David Krumholtz as Zor-El (Supergirl's father), Emily Beecham as Supergirl's mother, and the previously announced Jason Momoa as Lobo.

Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow marks the second film in the rebooted DC Universe, following James Gunn's Superman: Legacy slated for release this summer. Other upcoming DC projects include The Batman Part II (with uncertain connection to the Gunn-led universe) and a rumored Clayface film from Mike Flanagan.
