Suikoden STAR LEAP Is The Franchise’s First Mobile RPG
The eagerly awaited Suikoden STAR LEAP marks the franchise's first foray into mobile RPGs. In an insightful interview with Famitsu on March 4, 2025, Star Leap's developers shared their vision for the game.
Star Leap Producer Shinya Fujimatsu highlighted the decision to launch on mobile platforms, stating, "Our goal was to bring the Suikoden experience to as many people as possible. Mobile devices offer the easiest access to gaming, and we wanted to ensure that this new entry truly embodies the soul of Suikoden." The team is dedicated to delivering a game that combines console-quality visuals, sounds, and storytelling with the convenience of mobile play.
Expressing Suikoden in STAR LEAP
Fujimatsu emphasized the essence of Suikoden, noting, "The series is unique in its portrayal of war and the importance of friendship. In Suikoden STAR LEAP, we aim to capture the narrative of the new 108 stars effectively."
Director Yoshiki Meng Shan elaborated on the series' distinctive features, saying, "Suikoden balances an upbeat atmosphere with serious scenes, centered around the bonds of friendship. The tempo and cooperative nature of the battles, with many characters participating, are also hallmarks of the series."
Both a Sequel and a Prequel to the Series
Star Leap is designed to serve as both a sequel and a prequel, weaving through different eras of the Suikoden universe. It will be a new installment, officially part of the series' history. The game's story begins two years before the events of Suikoden 1 and spans across various timelines, connecting to Suikoden 1 through 5.
Fujimatsu expressed enthusiasm for the game's quality, saying, "Even newcomers to the series will find Star Leap easy to play on mobile devices and accessible in terms of story and gameplay. We hope it will be your entry point into the 'Suikoden Genso' universe."

Suikoden STAR LEAP was unveiled during the Suikoden Live broadcast on March 4, 2025, alongside other exciting projects in the series. The game is in development for iOS and Android, though an official release date has yet to be announced.
