Marvel Comics Announces New Star Wars Comic Series Launching May 2025
Marvel will relaunch its main Star Wars comic book series in May 2025, set after the Battle of Jakku and the conclusion of the Galactic Civil War. The story follows Luke Skywalker, Han Solo, and Leia Organa as they strive to establish the New Republic and restore order to the galaxy.
Written by Alex Segura (Star Wars: The Battle of Jakku), the series will be illustrated by Phil Noto (Star Wars: Poe Dameron), a veteran Star Wars artist. Noto and Leinil Yu will create the covers for the first issue.

The comic, set approximately two years after Return of the Jedi, depicts the New Republic's efforts to solidify its power. However, the heroes face new challenges from opportunistic criminals and villains exploiting the power vacuum.
Segura commented on StarWars.com, stating the series will explore "a new, uncharted era, with some new galactic threats, foes, and mysteries," blending familiar elements with fresh, surprising twists. He emphasized the action-packed narrative and character moments fans expect, designed for easy entry into the storyline.
Noto expressed excitement about bringing new characters and storylines to life, noting the opportunity to create new visual interpretations of classic characters in a period not depicted in films or television.
Star Wars #1 will debut on May 7, 2025, coinciding with Star Wars Day celebrations.
This isn't Marvel's only post-Return of the Jedi project. In February 2025, they'll release Star Wars: Legacy of Vader, focusing on Kylo Ren's journey after The Last Jedi. More information on future Star Wars projects is available in our 2025 preview.
