Star Wars: Hunters has announced its shutdown even before reaching its first anniversary, yet it will still celebrate that milestone before the final curtain call. But is it really worth celebrating the anniversary of a game on its last legs? Let's delve into the details.
When Is the Star Wars: Hunters Shutdown?
The servers for Star Wars: Hunters are scheduled to shut down on October 1st, 2025, marking the end of the game just nine months after its launch. Players have until April 15th to wrap up Season 5, which concludes on that date.Zynga, the game's developer and publisher, is set to release a final content update on April 15th. This update will introduce Tuya, the last new Support Hunter, available for free. Additionally, in-game purchases will be disabled on the same day.
Ranked Mode will remain active until the servers go offline, and events from the current season will be rerun. If you have any unspent Crystals, now's the time to use them as no refunds will be issued.
It Isn’t Shocking
While it's sad to see Star Wars: Hunters go, the signs of its impending shutdown were evident from the start. Announced in 2020, the game faced multiple delays and limited beta tests in the SEA and ANZAC regions only. The delayed launch, absence of major console support, and a tepid reception all contributed to the decision to shut down Star Wars: Hunters. Furthermore, the game's design missed a golden opportunity by choosing generic original characters over the iconic figures from the Star Wars universe.
If you've uninstalled the game but wish to experience it one last time, it remains available for download on the Google Play Store until the shutdown date.
