Triangle Strategy Returns to Nintendo Switch eShop
RPG enthusiasts can celebrate! Triangle Strategy, the acclaimed Square Enix title, is back on the Nintendo Switch eShop after a temporary removal. The game's brief absence, lasting several days, has ended, allowing fans to once again purchase and download this popular tactical RPG.
The resurgence of Triangle Strategy follows Square Enix's recent acquisition of the game's publishing rights from Nintendo. While no official explanation was given for the delisting, this acquisition is widely speculated as the cause. Triangle Strategy, lauded for its revival of classic tactical RPG mechanics, draws comparisons to franchises like Fire Emblem, emphasizing strategic unit placement and maximizing damage.
The game's return was announced via a Square Enix Twitter statement. This isn't the first time a Square Enix title has been temporarily removed from the eShop; Octopath Traveler experienced a similar, albeit longer, delisting last year. However, Triangle Strategy's reappearance was significantly faster, resolving within four days.
This event underscores the positive ongoing relationship between Square Enix and Nintendo. This collaboration is evident in past releases, including the Nintendo Switch exclusive Final Fantasy Pixel Remaster series (before its multi-platform release) and the initial exclusive release of the definitive version of Dragon Quest 11. Square Enix's history of console exclusives, dating back to the original Final Fantasy on the NES, continues with titles like the PlayStation 5 exclusive Final Fantasy VII Rebirth.
