The PC version of *Spider-Man 2* hit Steam and the Epic Games Store without any protective measures, making it impossible to hack the game before its release. This was largely due to the absence of pre-order and pre-download options, compounded by the game's hefty 140-gigabyte size.
However, within an hour of its release, hackers managed to download and crack the game's distribution. As anticipated, *Spider-Man 2* lacked robust defense mechanisms, which contributed to its vulnerability.
Sony took a low-key approach to marketing the game, and the system requirements were only disclosed a day before the PC launch. Currently, *Spider-Man 2* ranks seventh among Sony's biggest releases on Steam, trailing behind major titles like *God of War*, *Horizon*, and even *Days Gone*.
Initial player feedback has been less than stellar, with the game garnering a 55% positive review rating from 1,280 reviews at the time of this post. Players have reported issues with optimization, frequent crashes, and numerous bugs.
In contrast, *Spider-Man Remastered* continues to dominate as the top performer in the series on PC, having attracted over 66,000 concurrent players at its peak. Whether *Spider-Man 2* can come close to matching this record remains to be seen over the upcoming Friday and weekend. If the current sales trajectory holds, the game could still achieve respectable numbers.
