Smite 2's Open Beta Launch: January 14, 2025
Get ready! Smite 2, the highly anticipated sequel to the popular MOBA, launches its free-to-play open beta on January 14, 2025. This marks a significant milestone for the Unreal Engine 5-powered game, which entered Alpha in 2024.
This open beta will feature a wealth of new content, including:
- Aladdin: The first God from the Tales of Arabia pantheon, debuting alongside the open beta. This Magical Assassin and Jungler boasts unique abilities like wall-running and enemy trapping.
- Returning Favorites: Popular Gods from the original Smite, such as Mulan, Geb, Ullr, and Agni, are making a comeback with updated skill sets.
- Expanded Roster: The God roster will expand to nearly 50 by the end of January 2025, offering players a diverse range of legendary figures and deities.
- New Game Modes: Experience thrilling new gameplay with the introduction of Joust (a 3v3 mode with teleporters and stealth grass on an Arthurian-themed map) and Duel (a 1v1 mode using the same map).
- Aspects System: This innovative system allows players to modify their God's abilities, trading a specific attribute for a powerful bonus. For instance, Athena can forgo her ally-shielding teleport for a damaging teleport to enemies. 20 Gods will initially feature Aspects, with more to come.
- Quality-of-Life Improvements: Enjoy enhanced gameplay with additions like Role Guides, helpful new player messages, PC text chat, improved item store, death recaps, and more.
The open beta will feature 20 of Smite 2's eventual 45 dynamic Gods, each with unique Aspects. The game will be available on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S. The first Smite 2 esports tournament finale will also take place at the HyperX Arena in Las Vegas from January 17-19. Prepare for an exciting new chapter in the Smite universe!
