After a successful closed alpha, Smite 2's open beta is available for free across multiple platforms. This free-to-play launch includes a significant patch from Titan Forge Games, introducing new gods, a revamped game mode, and more.
Revealed a year ago, Smite 2, built using Unreal Engine 5, offers a significant upgrade over its predecessor. Improved visuals and refined combat mechanics are complemented by a revamped item shop offering greater flexibility. Maintaining the core 5v5 gameplay of its predecessor, Smite 2 allows players to control gods from various mythologies in epic battles.
Beginning January 14th, the open beta launched on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, PC (Epic Games Store and Steam), and Steam Deck. This update introduces Aladdin, a new god designed specifically for Smite 2. Possessing unique wall-running and revival abilities tied to his genie companion, Aladdin's ultimate ability uses his lamp to force enemies into 1v1 duels.

The additional gods joining the roster are Geb (Egyptian God of Earth), Mulan (Chinese Ascendant Warrior), Agni (Hindu Pantheon), and Ullr (Norse Pantheon). Alongside the new gods, the beloved Joust mode returns, offering 3v3 battles on a smaller map. The Conquest and Assault game modes are also included in the open beta.
Titan Forge Games' creative director has declared Smite 2 superior to its predecessor in several key aspects. Thanking players for their feedback during the closed alpha, the developers promise ambitious new content for 2025.
While available on major platforms, Smite 2 is currently absent from the Nintendo Switch due to performance concerns. However, Titan Forge Games remains open to bringing the game to the Switch 2 in the future. Smite fans can now experience the open beta on their preferred platforms.
