EA and Maxis are marking the 25th anniversary of The Sims franchise with a delightful surprise. As of today, both The Sims and The Sims 2 are accessible once again on PC through two Legacy Collections and The Sims 25th Birthday Bundle.

EA has officially launched The Sims: Legacy Collection and The Sims 2: Legacy Collection today for PC gamers. These titles are available individually or bundled together for $40 as part of The Sims 25th Birthday Bundle.

Each collection comes packed with all expansions and nearly all stuff packs, though it seems The Sims 2: Legacy Collection does not include the IKEA Home Stuff pack from 2008. Nevertheless, both collections boast additional content: The Sims gets a Throwback Fit Kit, while The Sims 2 includes a Grunge Revival Kit along with its other add-ons.

Play This re-release of the two classic *The Sims* games marks the first time in over a decade that both are widely available for play. While *The Sims* was exclusively released on disc, tracking down an old copy and ensuring compatibility with modern systems proved nearly impossible for years. Similarly, *The Sims 2*, which was previously available in 2014 via an Ultimate Collection on EA’s Origin store, has been absent since that collection was removed. Now, thanks to these Legacy Collections, all four main *The Sims* games are easily purchasable and playable through digital platforms.

Back in the day, we awarded The Sims a 9.5/10 and The Sims 2 an 8.5/10 for their creativity, simplicity, challenges, and enduring legacy. Despite the series’ evolution, the original games remain a must-play for fans of the franchise.

The Sims: Legacy Collection and The Sims 2: Legacy Collection are now live on Steam, the Epic Games Store, and through the EA app.
