If you're a fan of Hollow Knight: Silksong, there's exciting news on the horizon. The game, which has been eagerly awaited since its announcement, will soon offer a playable demo at Australia's National Museum of Screen Culture. Dive into the details of this upcoming exhibit and discover what fans can anticipate.
Hollow Knight: Silksong Playable Version
Hollow Knight: Silksong stands out as one of the most anticipated indie games in recent years. The wait might soon be rewarded, as a playable version will be available at Australia's National Museum of Screen Culture (ACMI). This version is expected to differ significantly from the E3 2019 demo, which was seen more as a "proof of concept" than a final product.
ACMI is set to launch a video games exhibition titled Game Worlds, running from September 18, 2025, to February 8, 2026. This event will feature several iconic titles, including World of Warcraft, The Sims, and Australia’s own Hollow Knight: Silksong. Each game will be presented with custom builds, showcasing original design materials, concept art, and iconic objects.
In an interview with IGN, ACMI co-curators Bethan Johnson and Jini Maxwell expressed their excitement about featuring Silksong. They stated, "Since Hollow Knight: Silksong's initial announcement in 2019, it has been one of the most anticipated indie games on the planet – and we are thrilled to celebrate the design of this South Australian-made game as a centrepiece of Game Worlds in September."
Since its announcement in 2019, Silksong has been shrouded in mystery, with fans eagerly searching for any tidbits on its release date and other details. The Game Worlds exhibit at ACMI aims to quench this thirst for information by providing deeper insights into Silksong.
The co-curators elaborated on what visitors can expect, saying, "From the hundreds of sprites that animate Hornet’s different movements and attacks, to the logic behind the game’s most challenging boss fights – and of course, having the game playable in-gallery – our Silksong displays delve deeply into the details of the game's artistic direction and design."
While the Australian event hints at Silksong’s possible launch window, no official release date has been confirmed. Silksong did make a brief appearance during the Switch 2 Direct last month, confirming a 2025 release window. Given that the exhibit extends into 2026, fans are hopeful that Silksong might launch in September or within the exhibit's duration.
Hollow Knight: Silksong is slated for release on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC. Stay updated with the latest on the game by checking out our article below!
