"Silksong Fans Hopeful for Nintendo Direct Reveal Next Week"

Author : Ryan Apr 03,2025

While some gaming communities, like the fans of Tomodachi Life, are reveling in the excitement from today's Nintendo Direct, others are feeling the sting of disappointment. The Hollow Knight: Silksong community, in particular, is dusting off their clown makeup once again, as their eagerly awaited sequel did not make an appearance at the showcase.

Fortunately, another opportunity looms on the horizon.

Of course, now we wait for April 2nd

The Silksong fanbase has been a whirlwind of anticipation and letdowns for quite some time now. Dive into their subreddit or Discord server any day, and you'll find yourself immersed in a sea of memes and "silkposts" that fantasize, predict, and jest about a game that seems perpetually out of reach. We've chronicled their rollercoaster of emotions last year with back-to-back Directs that left them reeling, and again in January when a chocolate cake photo sparked a wild goose chase for an ARG that never materialized. It's tough to gauge from an outsider's perspective whether the community's reactions are driven more by genuine disappointment or by the camaraderie of a close-knit group finding humor in each new showcase announcement.

Nintendo Direct? That’s not until April 2nd

However, there's a heightened sense of anticipation surrounding the upcoming showcase. Hollow Knight first gained widespread acclaim on PC, but its popularity soared with its launch on the Nintendo Switch the following year, forging a strong association with Nintendo's platform. The upcoming Nintendo Direct is poised to unveil the Nintendo Switch 2, showcasing both the new hardware and potential launch titles. This grand stage could be the perfect setting for Silksong to make its long-awaited reappearance. While the spotlight will undoubtedly shine on first-party titles, Silksong fans are clinging to the hope that their beloved game is not only ready but also significant enough to feature prominently at such a major event.

Are the hopes of Silksong fans destined to be dashed yet again—perhaps for the 50th time since the game was announced? It's likely! Yet, there are hints that a release date announcement might be on the horizon. An Xbox Wire post on indies recently mentioned Silksong, though it could have been a playful tease. More compelling are the recent backend updates to the game's Steam listing, including a copyright year change. However, the community has been down this road before, getting overly excited about Silksong's appearances and disappearances from various console storefronts. So, the true state of affairs remains a mystery.

The only certainty we have comes from Team Cherry's marketing and publishing chief, Matthew 'Leth' Griffin, who, after the cake incident in January, reassured fans, "Yes, the game is real, progressing, and will release." All that remains for us to do now is wait and dream of what life will be like once Silksong is finally in our hands.

So, get that clown makeup ready for next week, folks!
