Netflix has exciting news for fans of the acclaimed video game Sifu, as it has officially partnered with the game's creators to bring its intense storyline to the big screen. Initially announced back in 2022, the film adaptation was in the hands of Story Kitchen and Sloclap, the game's developer. But now, according to Deadline, the project has seen a significant expansion in its production team.

Netflix has enlisted T.S. Nowlin, the screenwriter behind the Maze Runner franchise and Netflix's Project Adam, to craft the screenplay for the Sifu movie. While Derek Kolstad, who was initially tasked with adapting Sifu's gripping tale, might still be part of the project, his current involvement remains uncertain.

The production has also attracted high-caliber talent with Chad Stahelski, renowned for directing the John Wick series, joining as an executive producer through his company, 87Eleven Entertainment. Interestingly, Stahelski is simultaneously working on another major video game adaptation, Ghost of Tsushima.

Sifu, released in 2022, became an instant sensation, surpassing one million sales within just three weeks. The game follows the journey of a young martial artist on a quest for vengeance after their master's brutal murder. Equipped with a mystical pendant that revives them after death but ages them several years, the protagonist navigates a perilous path filled with danger and intrigue.
