Shrek 5 has unveiled its all-new cast with a brand-new teaser trailer, sparking a mix of reactions, including from Movie Sonic, who seems unsure about Shrek's new appearance.
In a humorous video posted to TikTok, the Sonic Movie account offered "advice for green ogres," showcasing Movie Sonic's transformation from his initially criticized live-action design to the much-improved version released months later.

IGN provided the first exclusive look at the live-action Sonic the Hedgehog: The Movie back in 2018. The initial design received mixed feedback, with fans particularly vocal about Sonic's teeth, physique, tiny eyes, and human-like fingers.
Following significant backlash, director Jeff Fowler opted to redesign the iconic character, promising a more authentic representation. The new design was much better received by fans and critics alike.
While the response to Shrek's new look hasn't been as divisive as Sonic's debut, Sonic's playful reaction has entertained his audience.
"You know it's bad when you see the Sonic Movie account giving Shrek 5 advice," one fan commented, while another exclaimed, "No way they actually posted this" with a crying emoji.
The fifth Shrek movie was initially announced in 2016, but it remained in limbo until Chris Meledandri, CEO of Illumination, confirmed its active development in 2023. Alongside this, there are plans for a Donkey spin-off. Universal Pictures has rescheduled Shrek 5's release to December 23, 2026, moving Minions 3 into its former slot.
