The "Serialization Error Action Needed" error in Ready or Not, often accompanied by "Corrupt data found, please verify your installation," is a common Unreal Engine issue. Here's how to resolve it:

1. Verify Game Files:

This is the first troubleshooting step. Ensure Steam isn't in offline mode. Navigate to your Steam Library, right-click Ready or Not, select Properties, then Installed Files, and finally Verify Integrity of Game Files. Steam will automatically replace any corrupted or missing files. Retry launching the game; if successful, the problem is solved. If not, proceed to the next steps.

2. Disable Mods:

Outdated or incompatible mods, especially those not updated for Unreal Engine 5 (post-July 2024), are frequent culprits. To remove mods:

  • Access your Steam Library, left-click Ready or Not, select Manage, then Browse Local Files.
  • Navigate to the ReadyorNot > Content > Paks folder.
  • Delete the mod.io folder.

This will allow the game to run without mods. To reintroduce mods, follow step 3.

3. Reinstall Mods Selectively:

Reinstall mods individually to pinpoint the problematic one. Check the mod's update date on Nexus Mods, Mod.io, or your source. Only install mods updated after July 2024 (the UE5 update). Install one, test the game, and repeat. If the error returns, the last installed mod is the cause and should be avoided until updated for UE5 compatibility.

4. Clean Reinstallation (Last Resort):

If all else fails, uninstall and reinstall Ready or Not. While less likely, hard drive corruption could also be a factor. However, outdated mods are the most common cause of this error.

Ready or Not is available now on PC.
