A former employee of the studio revealed on LinkedIn that a project in development for several years was halted this week. The reasons behind this decision remain undisclosed. Last year, journalist Jeff Grubb clarified that this project was not a mainline entry in the series, specifically not Titanfall 3. Respawn Entertainment had assembled a dedicated "experimental team" for this project, bringing in experts skilled in multiplayer shooter development.
This isn't the first time Respawn has had to cancel a project; last year, they also discontinued an arcade shooter known internally as Titanfall Legends. The Titanfall series, beloved for its unique mix of action and mech piloting, allows players to engage in combat either as agile pilots or as commanding Titans. Since its debut in 2014, the series has captivated fans with its innovative gameplay, featuring parkour and intense team battles.
Currently, Respawn's focus has shifted to other ventures. They are working on the third installment of the Star Wars Jedi series, alongside a new strategy game set in the Star Wars universe, developed in partnership with Bit Reactor.
