Project ETHOS: A Free-to-Play Roguelike Twist
2K Games and 31st Union are bringing a fresh perspective to the hero shooter genre with Project ETHOS. This free-to-play game combines the dynamic evolution of roguelikes with the strategic depth of hero-based combat, all within a thrilling third-person perspective.
What makes Project ETHOS stand out? The game's unique "Evolutions" system randomly alters hero abilities mid-match, forcing players to adapt and improvise. Transform your sniper into a close-quarters combatant or turn a support hero into a solo powerhouse – the possibilities are endless.
Project ETHOS features two core game modes:

Trials: This signature mode challenges teams of three in matches against both AI and human opponents. Collect Cores, strategically choose when to extract, and invest them in upgrades to power future runs. Dying means losing your Cores, so survival is key! Join ongoing matches or wait for a new one to begin – the choice is yours. Expect a dynamic and unpredictable experience.

Gauntlet: A classic competitive PvP mode. Battle through brackets, upgrading your hero with each victory, culminating in a final showdown. Elimination means waiting for the next round.
How to Participate in the Playtest
Project ETHOS is committed to community feedback, regularly incorporating updates based on player input. The playtest runs from October 17th to 21st. Earn a playtest key by watching participating Twitch streams for 30 minutes. You can also register on the official website for a chance to participate in future playtests.
Current Playtest Region: The playtest is currently limited to the United States, Canada, Mexico, United Kingdom, Ireland, France, Germany, Spain, and Italy.

31st Union's Debut
Project ETHOS marks the first major title for 31st Union, founded by Michael Condrey, a veteran of Sledgehammer Games and Call of Duty. Condrey's expertise in multiplayer shooters is evident in Project ETHOS's design.
