The highly anticipated sci-fi action sequel, Predator: Badlands, has just released its teaser trailer, sending fans into a frenzy. The trailer introduces us to Elle Fanning's character, who seems to inhabit a perilous future on a remote planet. What's more intriguing is the Predator she encounters - this one is unlike any we've seen before and might even be the protagonist of the story. The teaser boldly declares, "The director of Prey welcomes you to a world of pain."
The trailer not only showcases a new-look Predator but also hints at connections to the Alien universe, sparking rumors of a potential new Aliens vs Predator movie. Fans have noticed Fanning's eyes displaying the Weyland Yutani reboot effect, similar to what we've seen in Alien: Romulus, suggesting she might be a synthetic character. Additionally, a glimpse of the Weyland Yutani logo, the infamous corporation from the Alien franchise, can be seen on a damaged vehicle.
That's the Weyland Yutani logo on Elle Fanning's eyes. Is she a synth?
Predator: Badlands was announced to be in development in February 2024, with its release date confirmed in October of the same year. The trailer made its exclusive debut at CinemaCon earlier this month, and now, for the first time, fans can get a taste of what's coming.
During CinemaCon, 20th Century Studios unveiled the official synopsis: "In the future on a remote planet, a young Predator, outcast from his clan, finds an unlikely ally in Thia and embarks on a treacherous journey in search of the ultimate adversary."
Elle Fanning shared some exciting insights at CinemaCon, saying, "Something unprecedented happens in this movie. My character is not the one being chased. My character actually teams up with the Predator. And you get to see him in a completely new light. And... I'll stop there!"
Directed by Dan Trachtenberg, known for his work on 10 Cloverfield Lane and the Predator prequel Prey, Predator: Badlands was co-written by Trachtenberg and Patrick Aison. The film is scheduled to premiere in theaters on November 7, 2025.
