Get ready, Pokémon GO trainers! January's first week is almost over, and the next Spotlight Hour event is just around the corner – this Tuesday! With numerous events already underway, make sure you've stocked up on Poké Balls and Berries. This Spotlight Hour promises exciting catches.
Pokémon GO consistently delivers engaging monthly events, including Max Mondays, Community Days, and the weekly Spotlight Hours, each featuring a specific Pokémon with a chance to snag a Shiny. Here's the lowdown on the upcoming event.
Voltorb & Hisuian Voltorb Spotlight Hour
Mark your calendars! The Pokémon GO Spotlight Hour runs from 6 PM to 7 PM Local Time on Tuesday, January 7, 2025. This week's stars are Voltorb and Hisuian Voltorb, offering double the Shiny hunting opportunities. Both Pokémon offer significant combat advantages, delivering impactful damage.
With two Pokémon featured, prepare ample Poké Balls, Berries, and Incense. These items boost your chances of catching Shinies and powering up your collection. Also, ensure sufficient storage space; you'll be catching many Pokémon and won't want to interrupt the action for transferring.
Voltorb (#100, Kanto Region) is tradeable and transferable to Pokémon HOME. Catching it rewards 3 Candies and 100 Stardust. It evolves into Electrode using 50 Candies. Boasting a max CP of 1141, 109 Attack, and 111 Defense, Voltorb packs a punch. As an Electric-type, it's weak against Ground-type attacks (160% damage) and resists Electric, Flying, and Steel-type attacks (63% damage). The optimal moveset is Spark (Electric) and Discharge (Electric), yielding 5.81 DPS and 40.62 TDO. Rainy weather boosts its attack. A blue Shiny Voltorb awaits discovery.
Hisuian Voltorb (#100, Kanto Region), also tradeable and transferable to Pokémon HOME, shares Voltorb's evolution path and reward structure (3 Candies and 100 Stardust for capture, evolving into Hisuian Electrode with 50 Candies). It also has a max CP of 1141, 109 Attack, and 111 Defense. While Electric-type, its weaknesses and resistances differ. It takes increased damage from Bug, Fire, Ice, and Poison-type attacks (160% damage), while resisting Grass, Steel, and Water-type attacks (63% damage) and other Electric-type attacks (39% damage). Its best moveset is Tackle (Normal) and Thunderbolt (Electric), providing 5.39 DPS and 37.60 TDO. Partly Cloudy and Rainy weather conditions enhance its damage output. Its Shiny variant features a black body instead of orange.
