Pokémon TCG Shatters World Record with Epic 24-Hour Card Opening Marathon
The Pokémon Company International has achieved a new Guinness World Record, setting a new benchmark for the longest Pokémon TCG unboxing livestream. This incredible feat involved opening over 20,000 cards in a continuous 24-hour marathon, a testament to the enduring popularity of the trading card game.
A Record-Breaking Livestream
On November 26th, 2024, influential personalities from the Pokémon community, including Serebii's Joe Merrick, PokeGirl Ranch, and Mayplaystv, teamed up for a record-breaking livestream on Pokémon's official Twitch channel. Their mission: to open 1,500 booster packs and various other Pokémon products, culminating in an estimated 20,000+ cards. This event celebrated the launch of the latest expansion, Scarlet & Violet - Surging Sparks.
Peter Murphy, Senior Director of Marketing at The Pokémon Company International, expressed immense pride in the accomplishment, stating, "It's been an incredible 24 hours of pack opening, and we're thrilled to have achieved such an ambitious GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS title alongside an amazing team of content creators."
The opened cards will be organized and donated to charities before the holidays, including Barnardo's in the UK. Fans are also encouraged to watch participating content creators' channels for additional giveaways in the coming weeks.
Celebrating Scarlet & Violet - Surging Sparks
Released on November 8th, 2024, Scarlet & Violet - Surging Sparks transports players to the Terarium, a key location in the Pokémon Scarlet and Violet DLC, The Indigo Disk. This expansion introduces powerful Stellar Tera Pokémon ex, such as the defensively potent Archaludon ex.
The expansion also features iconic Dragon-type Pokémon like Palkia, Dialga, Eternatus, and others, alongside beautifully illustrated rare cards showcasing Alolan Dugtrio and Feebas in serene ocean settings. New Tera Pokémon ex, including Pallossand ex and Flygon ex, add exciting new options for TCG players.
The Scarlet & Violet - Surging Sparks expansion is also available digitally through the Pokémon TCG Live app, offering digital players the chance to earn in-game rewards by collecting and battling with the new Stellar Tera Pokémon ex.
