Legendary Dynamax Birds Appear Over Three Weeks
Starring the Legendary Trio: Articuno, Zapdos, and Moltres
Dynamax versions of Articuno, Zapdos, and Moltres will appear in Pokemon GO from January 20 through February 3.
These colossal legendary birds will emerge in five-star Max Battles at Power Spots, where trainers battle and capture Dynamax Pokemon. Each legendary bird will debut on consecutive Mondays during the event period:
- Dynamax Articuno: January 20
- Dynamax Zapdos: January 27
- Dynamax Moltres: February 3
After their initial appearances, each legendary bird will remain available for a full week. The event also features "Legendary Flight Timed Research" with opportunities to catch Pokemon (including potential Shinies), along with Candy and Max Particles to power up your team. Research schedules in local time are:
- Dynamax Articuno: January 17 (10:00 am) - January 20 (7:00 pm) - Features Charmander, Beldum, Scorbunny
- Dynamax Zapdos: January 24 (10:00 am) - January 27 (7:00 pm) - Features Drilbur, Cryogonal, Grookey
- Dynamax Moltres: January 31 (10:00 am) - February 3 (7:00 pm) - Features Squirtle, Krabby, Sobble
Victini Returns as Special Event Reward
Niantic has revealed new details about the global Pokemon GO Tour: Unova event. While the in-person event has limited availability, all players can upgrade their free Tour Pass to a Tour Pass Deluxe for enhanced rewards and faster progression.
Starting February 24, 2025 at 10:00 am local time, all players will receive a free Tour Pass to collect Tour Points and earn rewards through March 2 at 6:00 pm.
The Tour Pass Deluxe upgrade offers immediate access to the Mythical Pokemon Victini and a new Lucky Trinket item after reaching the highest tier. This special item lets you set Lucky Friends status for one guaranteed Lucky Pokemon trade (with boosted stats and reduced power-up costs).
The Tour Pass Deluxe ($14.99) and Tour Pass Deluxe + 10 Ranks ($19.99) bundles are available for purchase, with rewards expiring on March 9, 2025 at 6:00 pm.
