Pirate Software Kicked Out of OnlyFangs World of Warcraft Guild

Summary

  • World of Warcraft streamer Pirate Software was expelled from the OnlyFangs guild following a disastrous Dire Maul North run resulting in Hardcore character deaths.
  • Pirate Software's refusal to accept responsibility for the deaths prompted his dismissal by Guild Master Sodapoppin.

Pirate Software's expulsion from the prominent World of Warcraft streaming guild, OnlyFangs, stems from a failed Dire Maul North run in the recently added World of Warcraft Anniversary servers. The reintroduction of Dire Maul to these servers has already claimed several OnlyFangs Hardcore characters.

Prior to Blizzard's official launch of Hardcore servers for Classic WoW in August 2023 (which saw a decline in popularity until the November 2024 Anniversary server release), players established their own zero-death guidelines. The Anniversary servers revitalized World of Warcraft Classic, significantly impacting the population of the original Classic servers. Since their launch, numerous Hardcore players have perished, while others have achieved level 60 within the imposed limitations. The recent deaths of Sara and Snupy are directly attributed to Pirate Software, leading to his banishment from OnlyFangs by Sodapoppin.

Social media posts confirm Sodapoppin's decision, detailed in a Discord statement. The statement cites widespread guild discomfort following the deaths of two members during the Dire Maul North run. The incident involved the group pulling a boss prematurely, triggering a pack of Gordok ogres. Despite a party member urging a retreat and reset, Pirate Software abandoned the group during the escape, contributing to the deaths of Sara and Snupy. While he might have retained his guild membership under normal circumstances, his refusal to acknowledge responsibility solidified his expulsion. Why Pirate Software's Expulsion from OnlyFangs?

The primary criticism leveled against Pirate Software is his unwillingness to accept blame for the two Hardcore deaths, specifically for his ineffective crowd control. During a post-run review, Sodapoppin highlighted Pirate Software's failure to utilize Blizzard rank 1 to slow the enemies, a tactic that would have conserved mana. Further allegations, from guild members like Mizkif, suggest Pirate Software issued threats to fellow streamers after the incident. Pirate Software responded to his expulsion on Twitter, expressing dissatisfaction with the handling of the situation.

Given the numerous expulsions from OnlyFangs since its reformation on the Anniversary server Doomhowl, some former members may form their own guild. With Blizzard's ongoing updates to World of Warcraft Classic, including Vanilla-accurate patches, further OnlyFangs Hardcore deaths are anticipated as new dungeons and raids are introduced.
